Circaseptan rhythms are found in the physiological and biochemical behaviors of many organisms. For instance, the primitive single-celled organism Giant Alga (Acetabularia Mediterranea) has an intrinsic seven-day rhythm even when subjected to artificial schedules of light and darkness. Research on rats kept in natural light conditions indicates that their Pineal Gland exhibits characteristic 7-day cycles in addition to 24-hour cycles, with HIOMT enzyme activity being highest on Saturdays and lowest on Thursdays. Are circaseptan biorhythms intrinsically found in humans? The evidence suggests the answer is yes. Research has also shown circaseptal fluctuations in blood pressure, heart rate, and body temperature.[3] Studies of fossil hominid teeth reveal weekly, dark growth lines, known as “striae of Retzius,” which form on dental enamel much like growth rings form on a tree during periods of slower growth, suggesting that these seven-day patterns are embedded in the DNA of humans since ancient times.2

While the week is not dependent on the orbits of planets or moons, there is some little-known, yet scientifically-demonstrated evidence that the Earth’s magnetic field has a “circaseptan,” or seven-day, cycle as well. A study using an isolated magnetometer in Antarctica discovered that among the geomagnetic pulse rhythms the Earth experiences, there are significant circaseptan geomagnetic pulses.3 Could these rhythms influence life on Earth?

It turns out that our pineal gland can pick up this natural, non-photic signal to help subconsciously keep track of the Sabbath. The pineal gland plays a central role in regulating our biorhythms. While various cues, both internal and external, help synchronize our bodies to daily rhythms, such as the day/night cycle, geomagnetic pulsations and light variations also influence the Pineal Gland’s melatonin production in seven-day cycles. This indicates that the Pineal Gland acts as a central communication hub, relaying environmental and cosmic information to the brain and body, and is intimately involved in marking the seventh day of the week.2 The widespread presence of circaseptan cycles in diverse organisms suggests that these seven-day rhythms are a fundamental biological characteristic with ancient roots rather than simply a cultural construct. If God truly created, blessed, and sanctified the seventh-day as the Sabbath, wouldn’t it make sense if he imbued his creation with some sort of time-keeping device so that the intelligent beings of His creation would be ready to rest and worship Him on that day? Unfortunately, many people, including professed Christians, ignore or reject the Sabbath of Creation because they think the Sabbath was only for the Jews.
